This week we will be finishing our novel, Charlotte's Web. We will be looking at plot and how it is developed in a story. We will also be working on character traits, by collecting evidence of character traits and working collaboratively in google docs by making a group list of the traits. We will also be taking a vocabulary quiz over terms we have learned through out the story.
Students will also be receiving their October monthly book project this Thursday. This month's genre is Mystery. We will be looking at how mysteries are written and will be reading a mystery book to compile a list of suspects and clues for our project.
We will continue with spelling this week, but I have added a "Word of the Week" to the list. This week's word is: colossal. The students will need to spell the word, write it's part of speech and definition. They will also be asked to either give a synonym or antonym of the word OR use it in a sentence that gives enough context clues to help the reader figure out the word's meaning.
In science we have finished our Scientific Inquiry strand and will be learning about nonfiction text features. Students will be learning about text features and how they help us to understand nonfiction. We will create a poster that gives examples and definitions of the terms.
A few things to keep in mind:
Have an excellent week!
