We have just finished our first round of English/Language Arts PARCC testing! The kids did an amazing job staying focused and working to their best potential. I am very proud of them! This week we will take the Social Studies AIR test and PARCC Math test. Our next round of state mandated testing will be near the end of April.
In language arts we have just finished reading Stone Fox. The students really connected to the book and had an enjoyable reading experience. We are writing an epilogue to the book this week and will be watching the movie together on Friday. We will also take a group test over the book. Stone Fox leads us into our Iditarod unit. Students will be researching two mushers and comparing and contrasting them. We will also track their mushers progress through the 1,049 mile sled dog race and see who the winner is! This is a great connection for the kids as one of the mushers in the Iditarod is Matt Failor, a Mansfield native!
We are studying the layers of the Earth in Science and will be learning about plates, volcanoes, and earthquakes.
A big shout-out to all of my 4th graders who completed the Road Apple Run 5k this weekend. Woo hoo!
You rock!
Have a terrific week!
