I had a wonderful first week of school! The kids were awesome! I know it's going to be a great year!
This week we will be finishing up our "How I Spent my Summer Vacation" writing, and will get started putting together our reading notebooks. We will review capitalization and punctuation. We will also have our first list of spelling words. These words will focus on the long "a" sound and how it can be spelled in words. Spelling words will be given on Monday along with the spelling homework. Spelling homework is due on Thursday, and the test will be on Friday.
We will also be starting our first book of the year: "Charlotte's Web". This is a wonderful book to start the year off with as it is full of vocabulary, has a wonderful theme and characters, and the story is one that many of the kids can connect with.
In Science we will be learning about our lab team roles and safety rules. We will do a few hands-on activities and take noes in our science notebooks. We will also take the science pretest using Study Island.
A few things to keep in mind:
Have a great week!
