Well, we have officially made it through the first 9 weeks of school! It seems like this year is just flying by! That always happens when I have such a wonderful group of kids:) My classroom has earned a DOJO party. They beat Mr.Aumend's class by one tenth of a point! It was that close! We will have our party on Friday, October 31st during lunch. We will take a classroom vote tomorrow to determine what kind of party we will be having.
This week we are writing comparison/contrast essays over Charlotte's Web. We will be looking at the similarities and differences between the book and the movie. We will also be learning some mystery vocabulary and learning what elements make up a mystery. This should help the students with their at-home October book projects. We will also discuss point-of-view.
In science we are writing friendly letters to our 8th grade Science Buddies. This is a collaborative project between the 4th and 8th grade science teachers. The 8th graders introduced themselves in a letter and we are replying with a science question that we want to know more about. The students are enjoying having an 8th grader to buddy up with, and the 8th graders are setting good examples for our little ones.
A few things to keep in mind:
Have a happy week!
