I know it has been a while since I have updated my post, but we are just now finally catching up from our crazy month of crazy weather!
Blizzard Bag #1 is due this Wednesday, and Blizzard Bag #2 will be distributed to students on Thursday. Blizzard Bag #3 will be assigned near the end of the month. Just a reminder that we are in session on Monday, February 16th for a make-up snow day.
In language arts we have finished up theme and have started reading Stone Fox. We are practicing writing fictional summaries as we read and using context clues to help us with unknown vocabulary. We will also take a closer look at theme as we continue reading more of our novel.
We have been reviewing our grammar skills with weekly grammar lessons. We have learned prepositions and are headed into idioms, adages, and proverbs. We also wrote fictional narratives to practice strong hooks, and quotations in dialogue.
Students have also spent time taking the PARCC practice tests online. This exposure and review will familiarize them with the new testing procedures that will take place the beginning of March.
In science we have been studying animal adaptations and behaviors. We are currently learning about food chains and ecosystem changes.
Conferences are this week: Tuesday and Thursday. Please call the office to schedule a time.
We will also have a Valentine's party this Friday!
Stay warm!
